Mexico, Apr. 20 (Notimex) .- During the holiday season of Easter that covered from April 8 to April 15, the state of San Luis Potosi recorded an economic spill for tourism of nearly 171 million pesos, which means a growth of 4.8 percent over the same period last year.
The state Tourism Minister, Arturo Esper Sulaimán, said that hotel occupancy was of 79.8 percent, 4.2 percentage points more than last year, while the influx of tourists staying in hotels was of 153 thousand 380 people, representing a 5.1 percent of increase.
In a statement, the state official said that the forecast of those who visited family, friends or camping is of 74 thousand 295 people, 3.5 percent more than last year, with the result that the total number of visitors, considering people staying in hotels, is of 227 thousand 765 people, 4.6 percentage points more than the previous year.
"A special case is observed in the state capital, which according to the National Statistical Information System of the Tourism Sector of Mexico, received during the year 2015 to 802 thousand 468 tourists and in 2016 to a total of 915 thousand 105 people hosted in hotels of tourist category, "he said.
He said that the current hotel offer is made up of 12 thousand 885 rooms, of which 73.7 percent corresponds to a tourist category offer of one to five stars, while 26.3 percent remained at hotels called uncategorized.
