Tamaulipas, Mexico, Dec. 19 (Notimex) .- The International Airport of the port of Tampico "Francisco Javier Mina" occupies the position number 19 of the total traffic ranking in Mexico with more than 600 thousand passengers in the year.
The administrator of the Tampico Airport, Naara Acosta Garcia, said that at the state level, the air terminal is ranked first in the ranking in Tamaulipas with 80 percent of traffic.
She explained that the airport currently has eight air routes with destinations to cities like Cancun, Veracruz, Villahermosa, Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Reynosa and Houston.
She mentioned that during the holiday season passenger capacity increases by up to 20 percent.
She pointed out that due to passenger demand it is expected to increase the connectivity of the port of Tampico with other regions of the country.
Acosta García pointed out that the southern conurbation of Tamaulipas comprising the municipalities of Tampico, Madero and Altamira is highly competitive in industrial, commercial and tourist activities.
She said that the Tampico Airport is one of the most important connectivity points for Tamaulipas, therefore, she was in favor of working to strengthen its competitive advantages.
