Nature tourism attracts 6.4 million visitors

Mexico, Aug. 18 (Notimex) .- From the 32 million travelers arriving the country, about 6.4 million purchase packages and practice nature tourism activities, the director of Tourism Product Innovation of the Tourism Ministry, Francisco Vega said.

During the presentation of the business meeting AdventureNext held for the first time in Latin America, the official said that this country has a strong product offering and ecotourism, adventure and rural tourism, which places it as a diverse destination and large asset quality.

This offers caused that one out of five tourists coming to Mexico practice an activity related to adventure tourism, ecotourism and rural tourism.

Among the variety of attraction, 174 protected natural areas, 67 national parks, five natural monuments, eight areas of natural resources, 35 areas of flora and fauna, as well as 18 shrines with potential to boost this tourist segment are the most attractive, De la Vega concluded.

In a statement, the Ministry of Tourism mentioned that the 2016 edition of AdventureNext would be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 in San Luis Potosi, and will bring together international and local tour operators, as well as journalists.
