Mexico, Jun. 13 (Notimex) .- The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur, for its acronym in Spanish) promotes the development of handicrafts and new ways to represent Mexican culture as a fundamental part of the diversification of the national tourism product, the head of the dependence, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, said.
During the opening of the MX Market exhibition in Punto Mexico, he said that tourism is the natural way to preserve the identity and give a proper value to national heritage.
In this regard, he stressed that "the proposal of Punto Mexico and the MX Market will expose the dedication, time and techniques used by designers and Mexican artisans to create their works."
He stressed that the exhibition will allow the artists to reinterpret and appreciate the national culture by using traditional elements and inputs to make handicrafts of Mexico “more attractive and appealing to the world."
The federal official said that the exhibition will have costumes, textiles, furniture and cuisine of the different entities of the Mexican Republic.
The exhibition is a good opportunity to reaffirm the commitment and interest to encourage and work closely with creative industries in the country, he said.
According to a statement from the Tourism Ministry, the president of the MX Market, Carmen Ortega said that this year's event seeks to create a shopping experience in a space where the commercial, cultural and social aspects get involved.
She mentioned that the MX Market appeared for the first time in 2010 to promote and stand out the best of design made in Mexico, besides it is a platform for promotion and marketing of the pop-up movement in the country.
The agency highlighted that currently 971 artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs are participating.
The exhibition, which includes furniture, fashion, accessories, crafts, textiles and cuisine prepared by designers and producers from different Mexican states, will be open at the facilities of the Tourism Ministry, Punto Mexico from June 9 to 30.
