Mexico, May 18 (Notimex). – In the first quarter of the year, Mexico registered 61.8 percent in hotel occupancy rate in over 70 tourist destinations, higher figure by 1.9 percentage points compared with the same period of 2015, informed the Tourism Ministry (Sectur, for its acronym in Spanish).
On a statement, the agency points out that the average figure of occupied rooms in the same destinations in the country from January to March was 224 thousand 406, which is an increase of 5.5 percentage points compared with the same period of 2015.
According to data of Datatur, the border regions have showed the greatest dynamism with 7.5 percent, followed by destinations with sun and beaches, which registered an increase of 4.6 percent, and the cities registered an increase of 3.0 percent.
“This had a positive impact in the occupancy rate registered the first quarter of 2016, the highest registered by Sectur so far in this administration of the federal government”, added the agency.
