Mexico, May 30 (Notimex).- The value of cultural tourism in Mexico represents an economic impact of more than 184 billion pesos, the Ministry of Tourism (Tourism Ministry).
This segment of tourism in the country is one of the most appreciated by international visitors, because Mexico has 33 cultural, natural and mixed sites inscribed on the World Heritage list of the United Nations educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
In addition to 111 Magical Towns, seven manifestations of Intangible Heritage, 187 thousand archaeological sites and 200 museums and art galleries, the agency said in a statement.
Hence the Tourism Ministry organized a tour of the new cultural destinations in Puebla for members of the Network of National Tourism Operators.
This visit intention is that the country's operators come up with innovative alternative tourist and cultural activities in the state, which traditionally has promoted religious and gastronomic tourism, which has international recognition.
One of the places with great cultural value in Puebla is the International Museum of Baroque, jewel of contemporary architecture, authored by Toyo Ito, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2013, is considered one of the most innovative and influential architects in the world.
The Baroque Museum is the most important that has been done in Mexico since the construction of the National Museum of Anthropology, because it contemplates the work and the collection of more than 14 countries in the Baroque style, period spanning the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
The spectacular museum has seven permanent and two temporary halls, auditorium, library, shop and the most advanced technology, which makes it one of the most modern in the world.
Among the sites the tourism operators toured are: the Zaragoza Cable Car and the Evolution Museum, which houses scientific history of 14 billion years.
The visit ended in the Star of Puebla, which has the Guinness World Record for the largest observation wheel in its kind in Latin America, offering a view from 80 meters height.
